HOUSE OF WONDERS
Renowned for its exceptional location, on the edge of the famous Jemaa El Fna square, as well as for the magnificence of its architecture, the archetype of the purest Arab-Andalusian style, Riad Monceau has continued to evolve since its creation in 2002 to form today this unique place, a veritable caravanserai of modern times and a major jazz scene on African soil.
If you reserve one or the other of the 10 coveted rooms and suites, it is not simply to stay in Marrakech. It is to live an experience there and enjoy life in the most intense way possible, in a setting that many describe as Hollywood-like. This includes the signature cocktails sipped on the rooftop, the iconic dishes offered by the 2 restaurants – Le Bistro Arabe (chef Myriam Ettahri) and La Pergola (chef Abdel Alaoui) – the MarrakChef cooking workshops popularized by the eponymous gastronomic trophy, or by the fragrant scents of the hammam clad in pink marble from Agadir.
But what makes the difference, what makes this place unique and magical, is the music. A real red thread, jazz is the signature of Riad Monceau. Present all day long in the form of a discreet background sound, it explodes in the evening during concerts of international level which will transport you to one of those clubs in New Orleans or Chicago where, by some miracle, Scheherazade would have given go to Louis or Charlie.
As you will have understood, Le Monceau is not a hotel like the others. So, it’s not for everyone. We are aware of it, and we assume it. You will live an extraordinary moment there if you are open to this type of experience. If not, perhaps it is better to direct you to a more classic hotel. If necessary, we will be happy to advise you. If in doubt, do not hesitate to contact us for more information.definition
LE “MONCEAU”, A FAIRY TALE
If so many people agree that the “Monceau” is a place like no others, it is probably because it is the result of a tremendous human adventure. Born about twenty years ago from my meeting with this extraordinary “maellem” that was my friend Abdellatif Lamselli, the riad has continued to evolve and transform since then, to become what I like to call a modern-day caravanserai. Simultaneously hotel, restaurant, rooftop, cooking school, the Monceau has finally found its definitive identity through jazz, which has become its true signature. All this generates a particular energy which, I believe, explains the success of Riad Monceau, Le Bistro Arabe and La Pergola. I hope you will appreciate it, and that the time spent with us will live up to your expectations.
